WATERSHED COORDINATOR POSITION - NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS The watershed coordinator will be responsible for developing a watershed management plan for the Little Pigeon Watershed in a manner that is inclusive of all stakeholders. The coordinator would be an employee of Warrick County Soil and Water Conservation District. The coordinator will work closely with government agencies, non-profits, and individual citizens in the community to develop the plan. The coordinator will organize and facilitate steering committee meetings, arrange logistics for public meetings, prepare draft plan documents, coordinate volunteers, and collect water and macroinvertebrate samples. Qualifications and Skills:
Prefer a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as agronomy, agriculture, natural resources management or environmental science. Other degrees and/or applicable experience will also be considered.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and manage productive relationships.
Flexibility, versatility, well organized and self-directed.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Project coordination and organizational skills that will be used to effectively lead, motivate, and involve individuals and groups.
Excellent writing, presentation, and public relations skills.
Working knowledge of watershed issues and non-point source pollution.
Knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office and other business software.
Experience with ArcGIS a plus.
Experience with grant management helpful.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain. Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
Major Duties: - Watershed Planning – provide leadership in developing and executing a Watershed Management Plan for the Little Pigeon Watershed. - Coordinate and form a Steering Committee for the Watershed. - Oversee the 205J Watershed Grant. - Plan and conduct outreach and educational activities. - Write/create articles, brochures, presentations, social media, and posts. - Collect water and macroinvertebrate samples, create maps, and combine and interpret data. Salary and Position Details: The coordinator will report to the Warrick County Soil and Water Conservation District Board. The position pays between $39,000 – $42,000 per year commensurate with experience. Note that the position does not include benefits. The position is currently funded for two years, and more funding will be sought to continue the position. This is a full-time position, and the coordinator will be housed at the Warrick SWCD office. The position will entail some weekend and evening work commitments. The coordinator will be able to attend the Indiana Watershed Leadership Academy and other training opportunities.
